Chelford 1st XI travelled to Glazebury only to be greeted by a torrential downpour. However hardwork by Glazebury and an early tea allowed play to get underway at 3:10. Having won the toss Chelford decided to have a bowl. In difficult conditions M. Shallcross and Z.Khan made batting look anything but easy. Poor fielding and dropped catches helped Glazebury onto 123-6 from 37 overs.
D.Acton 27 and J.Warhurst 59 n.o. the main contributors for Glazebury. Standing in for S.Oliver, M.Dickenson kept tidily and conceded no byes for the second week running. Khan bowled beautifully all through the innings finishing with excellent figures of 5-44 from 18 overs. Well done Zed another wicked spell in trying conditions.
In reply M.Dickenson added 39 with C.Fenn and 27 with N.Srivastava. At 66-2 all looked well but with wickets falling regularly panic began to set in. Dickenson was joined by youngster H.Jeanes with 7 wickets down and the pair took Chelford across the line in a calm and professional manner. Dickenson was a cut above the rest today finishing with a stylish and cultured 72n.o.
Thats the halfway point reached with 6 wins from only 8 games played, lets hope good weather is on the way and we can continue in the same kind of form for the second half of the season.
